TO HELP AVOID A DEER HIT:
If you see one deer, assume there’s more nearby
Be extra cautious around dusk and dawn when deer are most active
Blow your horn continuously to scare a deer away
As always, wear your seatbelt – most people injured in deer collisions were not wearing a seatbelt
Drive with caution in fielded areas and near woodland
Use your high beams at night to illuminate deer eyes
Try to stay in your lane – it’s usually safer to hit a deer than to swerve off-road or into oncoming traffic
